Mavericks Lift Tolani Open National Masters Championships

Mavericks (Subodh Maskara, Subhash Gupta, Jaggy Shivdasani, Sandeep Thakral, Keyzad Anklesaria, Debabrata Majumder) lifted the Tolani National Masters Championship trophy in a closely contested final.
They prevailed over the runners up, Formidables (Rajeshwar Tewari, Sumit Mukherjee, Kaustabh Nandi, Sagnik Roy, Kaustubh Bendre and Sayantan Kushari) in a match that left everybody guessing the outcome till almost the last
board.
Starting with a carry over of 3.5 imps, Mavericks increased their lead by 5 imps in the first set. Formidables fought back to win the second session by 7 imps to set the match almost level with a close finish.

The play off for the third place between DSM and Vedic was even closer. Vedic started poorly, losing the first session by 27 Imps. While they recovered 2 imps in the second set, it was still going to be an uphill task for them. But Vedic rose to the challenge and they won the session 42-16 to actually lead by 1 imp on the play. They were penalized 2 imps for arriving late in the morning and DSM secured 3rd place by 1 imp!

Playwell (Sanjeev Kumra, Neeraj Kumra, Amit Rewatkar and P N Rewatkar) won the non-Masters Team Championships with a consistent performance throughout the tournament.
They beat their opponents K2 (Tanmoy Majumder, Pradip Dey, Sudipta Adhikari, Abhirup Ghosh, Santanu Chakravarty and Nemai Chandra Dutta) quite handily by a margin of 22 imps

In the play off for the third place, Bridge Doctors pulled a huge lead of 49 imps in the first session winning it 57-8. Setu fought hard in the other two session winning them by 19 and 14 imps respectively but it was not enough and they had to rest content with the 4th place.
