ASSISTANCE TO RETIRED SPORTSPERSONS – MYAS

lt has been observed over a prolonged period that upon retirement from active sports, sportspersons encounter difficulties due to the absence of academic qualifications and the acquisition of necessary skills. The prime years of their lives dedicated to spo1ts leave them, upon the conclusion of their active sports careers, in need of gainful employment

Once the Retired Sportspersons are properly skilled, they will become a significant asset not only to the sports and allied activities sector but also to various other sectors of the economy.

The acquisition of such data is essential for the assessment of the number of retired sportspersons within the country . Tl1e collection of this data will facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the current status of retired sportspersons. It will enable the implementation of various market­ linked programs aimed at enhancing their earning capabilities and  livelihood  potential, there by integrating them into the broader sports ecosystem.

It is specified that the state-wise approximate  number  of  retired  sportspersons,  falling within the age group of 20-50 years, should be categorized into two groups based on their educational qualifications:

(i) those with qualifications of 12th grade and above, and

(ii) those with qualifications of Below 12th grade.

Furthermore, these should be divided into three categories  based  on their  sporting  achievements:  

State Level, National  Level and lnternational Level.
