The Bridge Federation of India (BFI) has issued the National Ranking & Selection Policy 2026–27, establishing a transparent, performance-based framework for ranking and selection of Indian teams.

🔹 Key Salient Features:
- Ranking cycle: 1 April – 31 March
- Applicable to Open/Men, Women, Mixed & Seniors
- Minimum 2 ranking events required for trial eligibility
- Ranking points are awarded to partnerships
- New partnerships receive 30% of each player’s highest previous points, averaged; minimum 3 ranking events in the current cycle
- Current-year points: 100% | Previous-year points: 50%
- Trial qualification:
Open/Men & Mixed: Top 12 + 4 self-funded
Women: Top 8 + 4 self-funded
Seniors: Top 12 Seniors + 4 Open pairs - Ranking list capped at Top 24 (Top 16 for Women)
- National Camp will have Elimination Stage + Final Stage
- Final ranking combines camp performance + ranking-point carryover
- Top 3 pairs + 1/2 reserves selected for the team
- Selected players undergo 60–90 days of training/coaching
🏅 Special Provision: BFI may exempt an Asian Games/WBF Medallist from the new-partnership requirement, subject to the prescribed partnership, Top-8 and approval conditions.
