Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar Bridge Trust
The trust under chairmanship of Shri Satish Malhotra was formed in 2005 with the objective of promotion of bridge in Indore & M.P. and to make Holkar Trophy Bridge Championship one of the best tournaments in the country. All the trustees are well known figures in their respective fields and are true bridge lovers.
ICBA
ICBA is the epicenter of Bridge activity in Indore and M.P.
A 58 year old organisation, ICBA hosts 16-20 district and state level tournaments every year. Also, ICBA has played a major role in organising three summer nationals held at Indore under MPCBA.
Late HH Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar was the founder patron of ICBA and MPCBA. He was a keen bridge player and promoted bridge not only in Holkar State, but throughout the country. His daughter, HH Maharani Usha Devi is the current Chief Patron of ICBA as well as MPCBA.
Yeshwant Club
Yeshwant Club came into existence in 1934 at the behest of late HH Tukoji Rao Holkar. The club was established out of natural love and affection for his beloved son Yuvraj Yeshwant Rao, who later became the Maharaja of Holkar State.
After the untimely demise of Maharaja Yeshwant Rao, HH Maharani Usha Devi became and continues to be the patron of the Club.
Perched in the heart of twilight metropolis, Yeshwant Club spreads over 14 acres and is one of the living signatures of Holkar era.
The club with a legacy of more than 80 years and a clan of 4,000 + members is among the top five clubs of the country. It offers a unique blend of culture, sports and entertainment.
Col. C.K. Naidu, Hiralal Gaikwad, C.S. Naidu, Capt. Mushtaq Ali and C.T. Sarwate donned the Holkar Eleven Cap while playing at the Club’s cricket field before making their mark in international cricket.
A natural lover of sports, Yeshwant Club continues to promote and patronise various sports activities, Bridge being a favoured one.
The Event
It was a treasured dream of Late Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar to have regular National Bridge Tournament at Indore for promotion of the game in the erstwhile Holkar state. ICBA was able to realise the dream with the able support of Shri Satish Malhotra and Maharani Ushadevi along with Yeshwant Club & other well wishers. This yearly tournament is popular among the masses and is a premier event in Bridge Calander.
Late Shri J.S. Anand always supported us in organising the tournament. His family has sponsored J.S. Anand Trophy in his memory.
Late Shri S.M. Jhawar was himself a very keen Bridge Player and was well known in Bridge Fraternity.
Jus. R.K. Vijayawargiya has the longest career in bridge in India at least, starting in 1948, has completed 71 years of competitive bridge.
