Indian Railways wins Shree Cement Interstate Championships

RAILWAYS WINS TEAM TITLE, DELHI WINS PAIRS TITLE AT INTER STATE BRIDGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Panaji, August 31, 2024: The 1st Shree Cement Inter State Bridge Championships concluded at Clube Gaspar Dias today, with Railways and Delhi emerging as champions in the Team and Pairs events, respectively.

The Railways team, comprising Sumit Mukerjee, Debrata Majumder, Sandip Datta, Gopinath Manna, Sayantan Kushari, and Sagnik Roy, dominated the 48-board finals, winning by a staggering 45 IMPs against West Bengal-A. West Bengal-C took third place, narrowly beating Maharashtra C.

In the Pairs event, Delhi’s Tribhuvan Pant and Daleep Mutreja lifted the Subhash Agarwala Pairs trophy, outscoring 15 pairs, including four from Goa, in the 56-board finals. Maharashtra’s Raju Tolani and Ajay Khare won Silver, while Nina Shah and Kaustabh Deodhar from Gujarat took Bronze. Goa’s Anad Golwalkar and C Dayal finished a notable 4th place.

The championships saw a strong performance from West Bengal, with all Railways players hailing from the state, making it a clean sweep at the top.
