Vijya Jajoo Memorial National Mixed Pairs Bridge Championship 2021 – Revised Dates

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the event can not be played on 18-19th & hence has been rescheduled to 3-day event from 25-27th Dec. Kindly note the revised dates. REGISTRATION PAGES are OPEN https://bridgefromhome.com/natmixed2021/

DATES:

  • 25-27th Dec 2021 (Total 3 Days) – to be organized by Bridge Federation of India.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

  • Mixed National Pairs – for VIJYA JAJOO MEMORIAL MIXED NATIONAL PAIRS TROPHY

PLAY FORMAT – 2 elimination rounds followed by an all-play-all Final.

IMPORTANT Tournament Committee has the right to change the format of the event based on the no. of entries.

Case 1: Entries are less than 60

The format for tournament will be Swiss IMP Pairs in elimination as well as final.

Elimination -1 on Saturday, 25th Dec 2021: Elimination-1 will consist of 12 rounds of 4 boards each to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. Top 50% or max Top 32 (whichever is less) pairs will get qualified to elimination-2.

Elimination -2 on Sunday, 26th Dec 2021: The format of Elimination-2 will be 12 rounds of 4 boards each, to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. Top 50% or max Top 16 pairs (Min 12 Pairs will surely go to the final) will get qualified to the final at the end of elimination-2.

Depending on the no. of finalists, the pairs will play an all-play-all 4/5 board matches in the final on 27th Dec (Monday). The final format will be announced before the final.

Case 2: Entries are between 61-80

The format for tournament will be Swiss IMP Pairs in elimination as well as final.

Elimination -1 on Saturday, 25th Dec 2021: Elimination-1 will consist of 12 rounds of 4 boards each to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. 32 TOP pairs will get qualified to elimination-2.

Elimination -2 on Sunday, 26th Dec 2021: The format of Elimination-2 will be 12 rounds of 4 boards each, to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. The TOP 16 pairs will get qualified to the final at the end of elimination-2.

The Top 16 Pairs will play an all-play-all 15 rounds of 4-board matches final on 27th Dec (Monday).

Case 3: In case the entries are 80+

The format for tournament will be Swiss IMP Pairs in elimination as well as final.

Elimination -1 on Saturday, 25th Dec 2021: Elimination-1 will consist of 12 rounds of 4 boards each to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. 40 TOP pairs will get qualified to elimination-2.

Elimination -2 on Sunday, 26th Dec 2021: The format of Elimination-2 will be 12 rounds of 4 boards each, to be played with initial random draw and actual Swiss Rank draw thereafter. The TOP 20 pairs will get qualified to the final at the end of elimination-2.

The Top 20 Pairs will play an all-play-all 19 rounds of 3-board matches final on 27th Dec (Monday).

There will be Carryover as per the SCoC from each elimination round to next elimination round till Final.

The difference in IMPs earned by the two opposing pairs at the end of each round of the Swiss shall be converted into VPs, according to the WBF Continuous VP Scale (20-0)

  • MIXED IMP Pairs – for UPASANA JAJOO MIXED IMP PAIRS TROPHY

All those pairs who have entered the Mixed Pairs event and do not qualify for the finals are eligible to play in a Special event on Monday 27th Dec 2021, without any additional entry fee. The Special event will be an IMP event in 2 Sessions of 20 boards each. The scoring will be in Cross IMPs.

  • PLATFORM – The complete event will be played on Realbridge platform on all 4-days.

CONDITION OF ENTRY:

  • Performance in the National Mixed Pairs event will be eligible for Ranking Points for Indian Mixed Teams selection, as per the BFI Ranking Point Policy 2021.
  • Participation in this tournament is open to all resident bridge players of Indian Nationality. Pairs with one or more non-resident or OCI card holder Indian bridge player(s) or players of other NBO’s of foreign nationality are also eligible to participate. However, the non-resident Indian / OCI Card holder Indian / foreign player(s) or an Indian resident player partnering a non-resident Indian / OCI card holder Indian/ foreign player will not be eligible for the ranking points from this tournament.
  • In case, a non-resident Indian / OCI Card holder Indian / foreign player(s) secure a rank in an event, they will be eligible for the prize. However, that rank will not get substituted for ranking point. For eg. If we are giving ranking points up to 8 positions and the 5th rank is secured by a non-resident Indian / OCI Card holder Indian / foreign player(s), then no ranking points will be allocated to any Indian players for that rank.
  •   All participating players should be registered under BFI Master Point Scheme. 
  • Trios are not allowed in this event.
  • All participating players should go through and abide by the tournament SCoC, which will be circulated on the BFI web site www.bfi.net.in.
  • For playing on “Realbridge” platform, players have to ensure that they have a laptop / desktop, I-pads or PC with Camera & Microphone facility and a good internet connection. This is a mandatory condition and players should ascertain that they are equipped with the required paraphernalia before entering the event. It may please be noted that you can’t play the event on mobile phone.
  • Detailed information on the schedule & SCoC will be circulated on the BFI web site at www.bfi.net.in & various Bridge related WhatsApp groups by 12th Dec 2021.
  • Entries for all events will start from 15th Dec 2021 on BFI web site.
