Indian Seniors Team Storms in Semi Finals Stage

The Indian Senior team (RA Agarwal, Jitendra Solani, Anal Shah(coach), Dipak Poddar (captain), Subhash Dhakras, R Sridharan, Anand Samant)has stormed into the Semi-Finals of the 43rd World Bridge Teams Championships being held in Lyon, France. This is the best ever showing by an Indian team at the World Championships.

The team carried forwards their stellar form displayed during the qualifying rounds and put on a strong performance against the fancied hosts, France. Despite falling behind in the 1st segment, India fought back over the next 4, gradually narrowing the score deficit and setting up a thrilling finale. India started the 6th and final segment 11 points behind France, but after some strong play, managed to swing the game in their favor for a 13-point win.

India play Italy in one Semi-Final while USA and Sweden face off in the other. The Indian Senior team’s performance has thrilled the Bridge playing fraternity in India.
