In the 4*14 boards final, the reigning champions FORMIDABLES (KIRAN NADAR, SUNIT CHOKSHI, B SATYANARAYANA, KEYZAD ANKLESARIA, RAJESHWAR TIWARI, B PRABHAKAR) comfortably beat SHREE CEMENT (RAVI GOENKA, ARUN BAPAT, ASHOK VAIDYA, VINAY DESAI and ANIL PADHYE) by 84 IMPs.
Formidables won the first set by 18 IMPs and consolidated their position in the 2nd set by adding another 35 IMPs to their kitty. Shree Cement had taken the lead by 11 IMPs in the 1st set and added another 19 to lead by 30 IMPs at half way stage. Chances of any fight back vanished when the 3rd set was also comfortably won by Formidables by 31 IMPs. Shree Cemnt gave a walk over in the 4th set.
The 2-session (22 boards per session) IMP Pairs was also played today with 56 participants. 44 qualifiers from yesterday’s elimination round) were joined by 12 pairs of losing Ruia GOLD semi- finalists and the winner & runner-up of the Ruia Silver event.
KAUSTABH NANDI – ANINDYA BHATTACHARYA won the IMP pairs final with a score of 106.9
IMPs. SANDEEP THAKRAL – KAUSTUBH BENDRE with 102.9 IMPs were in second position The detailed score of the IMP Pairs event is given on Page 3.
For non-qualifiers a SWISS TEAMS event with Patton scoring was played today morning. 13 teams participated and played 6 rounds of 4 boards each. SAMADHAN BRIDGE ACADEMY won the event with a score of 73.
